• When it comes to managing water use in the state of California, there is no way to get around the fact that approximately 80% of the water used in the state goes to agriculture.  In July, CAWSI released a 4-page brief, prepared by Dave Runsten of Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF), outlining the critical importance of incorporating a stewardship approach to water management on farms in California.
    While many farmers recognize the role that smart water management plays in ensuring the economic viability of farms as well as its conservation value, public programs that provide support for Ag water stewardship lag.
