Board of Advisors

Eddie Dunbar

Eddie Dunbar has been pursuing insects since he could crawl. The fruit of his passion are growing numbers of insect guides and of people who are photographing and talking about insects.

Eddie studied entomology at the University of California, Berkeley and has led entomology instruction through projects at Cal, Lawrence Hall of Science, Mills College, Oakland Schools, and most recently as an instructor at Merritt College.

By day he manages a GIS-based application for Oakland Public Works, but at night, on weekends, days off, holidays and the hours in between, he transforms into an advocate for the insect right to exist.

Daniela Milian

As the City of Oakland’s (ELDE) Environmental Program Analyst II, Daniela supported the development, implementation, and promotion of new and revised environmental programs; coordinated large public volunteer events, including the development of related program resources.

Her employment history, along with my academic background and volunteering experiences have shaped her passion for intercultural environmental sustainability. She has developed a strong interest in bio-cultural diversity; emphasizing the recognition of BIPOC communities as crucial components for shaping a sustainable future.

John Steere

John Steere is an environmental and watershed planner with over 30 years of experience in the public, non-profit, and consulting realms, managing collaborative environmental plans and studies, and open space initiatives.
