    Forester Media Inc. and StormCon®, The North American Surface Water Quality Conference & Exposition, will present a new component August 23 – 24, 2011, in Anaheim, California, titled “Preparing for the Rising Tide: Coastal Protection Symposium. This new course curriculum will take place concurrently with StormCon 2011 at the Anaheim Marriott.

    The subject of the two-day curriculum will be infrastructure protection in coastal cities, ports, and industrial complexes in the face of sea level rise and potential shoreline changes.

    We are seeking presentations on proactive municipal responses to the threat of increasing sea levels, proactive engineering solutions, and long-term zoning and development strategies. Presentations should focus on practical, real-world solutions from public policy makers, urban planners, and coastal engineers.

    Topics of interest include:

    • Policies, regulations, and zoning related to coastal change
    • Shoreline mapping and use analysis
    • Protection, relocation, or elevation of structures and utilities

    The audience for these presentations will include urban planners, civil engineers, and municipal and industrial facilities managers and engineering staff.

    The deadline for submitting an abstract is February 15, 2011. All presentations will be 30 minutes long.
